OFCA

1、 Introduction to OFCA (OFTA) Certification

OFCA is a mandatory wireless certification in Hong Kong, and wireless RF and telecommunications products sold in Hong Kong must comply with its requirements and apply for certification, and display logos and recognition numbers on the products. The full name of OFCA is Office of the Communications Authority, established on April 1, 2012, formerly known as Office of the Telecommunications Authority.

Under the mandatory verification plan, applying for verification for telecommunications equipment is mandatory. Before using or selling telecommunications equipment in Hong Kong, it must be verified to comply with one of the following specifications:

(1) Relevant HKCA specifications;

(2) Technical standards prescribed or recognized by the Director General of the Communications Authority, if there are no relevant HKCA specifications;

(3) Equivalent to the specifications of (1) or (2) mentioned above.

 


2、 OFCA (OFTA) Certification Process

Document authentication:

(1) Review the submitted technical specifications or user manuals to verify whether the telecommunications equipment is likely to pass the corresponding equipment certification;

(2) Review the type verification certificates issued by other authorities and related test reports submitted to verify whether the equipment needs to be identified;

(3) Review the test report submitted by the accredited testing agent to verify whether the equipment needs to be appraised.

Equipment appraisal:

(1) Test telecommunications equipment samples according to relevant HKTA specifications by the certification body;

(2) According to the approved testing agent, conduct testing on samples of telecommunications equipment in accordance with relevant HKTA specifications or equivalent specifications;

(3) According to the equivalent specifications approved by other authorities for telecommunications equipment based on HKTA specifications, along with relevant test reports.
